Parent Organization Officers
Provide the District's Office and the School Principal with a list of the Parent Organization officers at the beginning of each school year and as officer's change. Treasurer CANNOT be an employee of Spring ISD and/or a check signer
RS Filing Requirements
Most tax-exempt organizations are required to file an annual return. Which form an organization must file generally depends on its financial activity, as indicated below:
Form 990 if gross receipts normally exceed $200,000
Form 990EZ if gross receipts normally exceed $50,000
Form 990-N (e-postcard) if gross receipts are less than $50,000
These forms are due on the 15th day of the fifth month after the end of the fiscal year of the parent organization. The IRS imposes financial penalties if you fail to complete these forms.
Keep a copy of the completed IRS Forms in the parent organization permanent files and forward a copy to both the principal and the Family and Community Engagement

September 15th or Earlier | PTO / Booster Checklist | Complete the Checklist to provide the officers with an overview of the PTO's / booster club's financial information. |
September 15th or Earlier | IRS 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Status | Check your organization's IRS 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Status and send the confirmation page to Parent Engagement Director |
September 15th or Earlier | PTO - List of Officers | Submit to Principal and Parent Engagement Director |
September 15th or Earlier | Booster Club Information Sheet (Officer List) | Submit to Sponsor, Principal & Parent Engagement Director |
September 15th or Earlier | Financial & Review Reports | PTOs - Submit to Principal & Parent Engagement Director |
September 30th of each year or at least 30 days prior to start of fundraiser | Fundraising Activity Reports - Permission Request | Submit Permission Request to sponsor (booster clubs) & principal (PTOs and Booster Clubs) for approval at least 30 days prior to the start of the fundraiser. |
September or October | Financial Seminar sponsored by the district | Receive information about sales tax and IRS requirements. |
October 15th | IRS 990 Return | If fiscal year end is May 31, return is due by 10/15 annually. |
October 20th | Sales Tax Report | Quarterly Sales Tax Report due to Texas Comptroller's Office. |
November 15th | IRS 990 Return | If fiscal year end is June 30, return is due by 11/15 annually. |
December 15th | IRS 990 Return | If fiscal year end is July 31, return is due by 12/15 annually. |
January 20th | Sales Tax Report | Quarterly, Semi-Annual or Annual Sales Tax Report due to Texas Comptroller's Office. |
January 31st | IRS 1099 Form | If a total of $600 or more is paid to an individual during any calendar year, a 1099 form must be issued. |
April 20th | Sales Tax Report | Quarterly Sales Tax Report due to Texas Comptroller's Office. |
July 20th | Sales Tax Report | Quarterly or Semi-Annual Sales Tax Report due to Texas Comptroller's Office. |
